This is the first time the new AC45 has capsized and it is yet again the defending champion, Oracle, who ended up flipped upside down, just like in 2012 in San Francisco.

This time the scene took place in the waters of the Bermudas, in a fairly normal situation for a regatta, where the next America’s Cup will take place: 20 knots of wind and calm seas.

No damage during the capsizing to the vessel and no injuries among the crew, except for the electronic equipment which suffered water damage, no other issues were found on the AC45.

“This is what happens when you push yourself to the max ” explained the skipper, James Spithill, “The crew worked wonderfully during recovery, and there was no damage on board “.
