Just off the coast of the Canary Islands, is a tribute to the innocent victims of the Mediterranean. This is the art piece by Jason de Caires Taylor, entitled “The Lampedusa Raft”, an interpretation of the painting by Théodore Géricault from 1819 “Medusa’s Raft”.

A sculpture that fills the water with deafening silence, like that which often surrounds the many tragedies taking place in our waters. Taylor’s Lampedusa Raft is about 15 meters deep off Lanzarote and will certainly become a frequently visited piece by divers.
