An accident involving the ferry Moby Baby took place in Tuscany near the island of Elba. The ship was undertaking regular docking procedures, in the port of Portoferraio, when it hit the dock, being unable to stop in time.

The vessel in question was the Moby Baby. As can be seen in the video, it was a strong impact, but the three injured persons, a woman and her two children aged 8 and 4, suffered only minor injuries. The impact damaged the asphalt on the dock and some vehicles in the hold of the ferry were damaged. Investigations into the cause of the accident are being undertaken.

The accident, according to a preliminary report by the port authority, was caused by a technical fault. It seems the engines shut down while the ship was effecting docking manoeuvres. Because of this, the captain lost control and crashed into the dock. There were 77 passengers on board, as well as the crew. The impact caused a lot of fear and confusion, but thankfully that was it. Now, new investigations are underway to further investigate the incident.
