Work continues non-stop as the final steps that will allow the Costa Concordia to float again, and therefore face its final voyage, are being completed, while Italy and France are at odds over the possible routes for the ship to follow as it is towed back to Genoa. The eyes of the international community and media are fixed on the small island of Giglio in the Tuscan Archipelago as this titanically difficult technological salvage operation unfolds.
Reporter Serena Galvini, who is stationed on Giglio island, has sent Liguria Nautica several photos of this delicate phase in the preparations as the Concordia is being prepared to float again. The photos below show the progress of the work as the waterline of the ship becomes visible again.
